The same symptom can have several causes, and some of them are outside the dishwasher itself. We test the machine at your home before recommending a repair.

Dishwasher Not Draining

A little water around the filter or sump can be normal on many models; water covering the tub floor after a cycle is not. The cause may be a clogged filter, a kinked drain hose, a blocked air gap, the sink or disposal connection, or the drain pump. Filter designs differ by model, so follow your owner’s manual. Dishwasher Leaking

Water on the floor can come from the door seal, a hose or fitting, the water inlet valve, the pump, or too much or the wrong detergent causing suds. If the leak is active, stop the cycle and stop using the dishwasher until it has been checked, then call us so we can find the source.

Dishes Still Dirty or Cloudy

Gritty residue, stuck-on food, or cloudy glasses can come from a dirty filter, blocked spray arms, how the racks are loaded, detergent or rinse aid, water temperature, hard water, or a wash pump or inlet problem. Bosch’s dishwasher cleaning guidance covers filter care, loading, and keeping spray arms clear on its models. If those do not help, we check the parts.

  • Dishes still wet. Poor drying does not automatically mean a failed heating element. Rinse aid, loading, cycle options, plastic items, the vent or fan, and the heater can all play a part.
  • Dishwasher will not start, or stops mid-cycle. Possible causes include the door latch, the home’s power supply, a control lock setting, the water supply, or the control. Note where in the cycle it stops.
  • Unusual noises. Grinding, buzzing, or rattling can be something caught near the pump or spray arm, or a worn pump or motor.
  • Door will not latch or seal. The latch, the strike, the hinges, or a rack that is not fully seated can keep the door from closing.
  • Error codes or flashing lights. Codes and reset steps depend on the brand and model. Write the code down and check your owner’s manual; it helps us prepare for the visit.

Why is my dishwasher not draining?

Why are dishes still wet after a cycle?

Drying depends on rinse aid, how the racks are loaded, the cycle and options chosen, and the dishwasher’s vent, fan, or heater. Plastic items also dry more slowly. If drying has clearly gotten worse, we test the drying components.

Why will my dishwasher not start?

It may be the door latch, the power supply, a control lock or delay-start setting, the water supply, or the control itself. Check your manual for the control lock and any error code, then call us if it still will not start.
